In this era of constant spam and nuisance calls, being able to block up to 1000 numbers is a big relief. It’s easy to use and has multiple modes, so you can tailor it to how aggressive you want your blocking to be. For us, it’s been effective at keeping interruptions to a minimum, especially during dinner or family time. The answering machine is another strong point. With up to 50 minutes of recording time and selective playback, it’s been a great improvement over older models that had limited capacity. The interface for accessing and managing messages is intuitive, and I like that you can set it to “answer-only” if you don’t want messages recorded. The hands-free feature is handy too clear audio and adjustable volume make it easy to continue conversations while multitasking around the house. That said, there are some downsides. First, the advertised “large high-quality display” felt a little underwhelming in real life. It’s functional but not particularly high-res or sharp, especially for older users who might struggle with readability. Also, the menu navigation isn’t as user-friendly as it could be. It’s not confusing per se, but it’s a bit clunky feels like tech from 10 years ago with lots of button presses to get simple things done. Another gripe: the build quality. While the phone isn’t flimsy, it doesn’t feel as premium as the price point suggests. I ordered this Alcatel F890 cordless phone and answering machine. I connected this phone to my telephone line and to the power supply and the phone and base connected straight away. It has a larger number of functions, you can change the melody from quite a range for external calls and for internal calls although the range is not as large as for external. If you have more than one of these phones in you home you can use them to make a call internally for example another room. The display is large and easy to read and contains the time and handset name. The buttons on the handset are big and clear. The answer phone can be controlled from the base unit and has a red led showing how many messages you have. When a caller rings your if you have caller ID it will show their number, and you can recall this and any missed calls and it will show the number and time they called. Sound quality is good and it has a decent range, it managed to work in my bungalow just fine which is four bedrooms. The base unit has only a small profile and is supplied with cables to connect to your phone line. Good value for money, and looks nice although a bit plasticky.
