VTech CS1550 DECT Cordless Phone with Answering Machine and Call Block, 1 Handset, Landline House Phones, White, Caller ID/Call Waiting, Redial, Handsfree, illuminated Display and Keypad

My other house phone suddenly died and there was no fixing it. So I had to get a new one. Our house is in an area where we get no mobile signal, so the house phone is essential. I looked at a few but this one caught my eye as it was cheap and it had good reviews. It arrived quickly and well packaged. It was easy to get set up and we have had no trouble at all with it. The ring tone is a bit loud and it is unusual sounding so it makes us jump when it rings, but know we will get used to it. The only difficult thing, for me, is that it has no answering machine to blink if you have a message, you must remember to call 1571to collect any messages. You are aware of a message only when you go to make a call as the dial tone changes to something similar to an engaged signal. You can still make the call without having to check the message but I struggle to remember to listen to the dial tone when I get back to check if I have any messages. But that is something I will eventually get used to or will just buy an old school answering machine. I do like the phone though, it is comfortable to use and the caller ID is so useful for avoiding cold callers. The speaker phone option to the phone is fantastic! You do not need to be overly close for folks on the other end to hear everyone clearly. Our other phone you could not do that. So it made our holiday calls last month so much easier. I would certainly recommend this phone for anyone needing a house phone and especially for the elderly who are slightly hard of hearing, as the volume can go up extremely loud if necessary. We don’t need to have it up high but it is a feature to be aware of as it can be a problem with other phones.

Cheap and cheerful but actually pretty good. Master base plugs into the legacy port on a BT fibre router. Works well no interference, seems to be more compatible than the better than the old BT DECT phones that we had. 1571 BT digital voice answerphone service works with them.

I’m very pleased with these phones, they were replacing my old set that had given up completely. These are stylish very easy to set up. Plenty of ringtones. Sound is great and very impressed with the speaker. You don’t even have to have it that close for the caller to hear you. At £24.99 for two it’s an absolute bargain.

Works first time every time. This is 1990s technology at it's finest but with updated styling. You will not suffer from poor signal like with 4g/5g rubbish. Just remember to use an adapter if you want to connect it to your fibre broadband router.

Easily the worst phone I have ever encountered. Menu and numbers are illegible Functionality is totally unintuitive. Complete waste of money, should have paid a little more for someone who actually makes phones rather than toys.
